You’ll need
- Cloudflare account: Workers Free for the inbox install, or Workers Paid from $5 USD/month for the full install. Cloudflare bills usage directly.
- A mail domain: on Cloudflare DNS. Your app can use a free workers.dev address.
- Local tools: Node.js 22 or later on a current security release, pnpm 10.25.0, Git, and Bash. Node runs the installer and CLI on your machine; the app itself runs on Cloudflare’s runtime.
- R2: enable it through Cloudflare’s checkout before deploying. A payment method is required on every plan, including Workers Free.
- Account access: permission to create resources and configure Cloudflare Access.
Free or Paid?
One installer checks your Workers plan. On Workers Free it installs the inbox. On Workers Paid it adds outbound sending and optional AI/browser tools. Box Ox itself is free.

Testing status
Fresh-account tests covered install, owner sign-in, empty app pages, and removal, using the unchanged 2.4.0 source on Workers Free without domains. End-to-end mail delivery, populated-mail recovery, and Free throughput have not been recorded on a fresh account. Verify your own mail round trip before relying on it.
